Very briefly, Stefan Boonen writes picture-books, novels for children, graphic novels and stories for first readers. His work has won awards and has been frequently translated.
Stefan's books -as varied as they are - are characterised by imagination, rich language, a sense of connection and humour.
Stefan often visits libraries, schools and festivals, also abroad. Together with illustrator Melvin, he is the driving force behind the Kabaal! children's book festival
Stefan works and lives in Leuven.

Do you visit schools or libraries? Yes, I do! I often tell and read to young readers.
Are you also an illustrator? No, unfortunately/ fortunateley I am not.

Did you study to become a writer? No, I first studied to be a carpenter and afterwards I did social studies.
Hobbies? Yes, I like sport and I like to read.
